Frasiey

Download · helper v0.1.0

Put Frasiey in the room.

One install per room laptop. It lives in the menu bar or the tray, opens the microphone only while a session is running, and shows nothing on the projector.

macOS

Signed and notarized by Apple. On macOS 26 and later Frasiey uses the system's on-device speech engine, which needs no download; on earlier versions it uses the bundled engine instead.

Windows

A standard installer for 64-bit Windows. Speech is recognised locally, in English, by a streaming engine that downloads itself, once, the first time you caption. Other spoken languages need a Mac on macOS 26, which uses Apple's own engine.

The Windows build is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen shows a warning the first time. Choose More infoRun anyway. Signing is on the list.

What the room needs

A microphone the room can actually hear — a ceiling array, a table mic or the lectern feed — and an ordinary internet connection. Frasiey listens to whatever input you pick and shows you a level meter before you commit.

Outbound HTTPS and WebSocket to api.frasiey.com and updates.frasiey.com · about 700 MB of free disk on Windows and on Macs before macOS 26 while the bundled speech engine downloads and unpacks (it keeps about 350 MB)

First run

Three minutes, once per room.

Connect it to your account

The helper shows a six-character code. Type it into your dashboard and the machine joins your account. The code works once and expires in fifteen minutes.

Wait for a room

Which room this machine is gets decided in the dashboard, not on the laptop. Until then the helper simply says it is waiting.

Test the audio

Pick the input, watch the level meter, run a five-second local transcription. If those words come back right, the room will too.

Updates and releases

Nothing to schedule, nobody to page.

It updates itself

The helper checks the release feed hourly and installs quietly on the next restart. There is no AV technician to page at seven in the morning.

Always-current links

Deploying by script? Use /download/mac?arch=arm64 (or ?arch=x64 for Intel) and /download/win on updates.frasiey.com. Each redirects to whatever installer is current, so the URL in your runbook never goes stale.

This page's build

The buttons above point at helper v0.1.0, resolved from the release feed when this page was built (feed).

You will need an account to pair it.

Free, three captioned hours, no card. Set it up while the installer is still downloading.
